Study Levels:

Hungary’s government offered Stipendium Scholarships for international students and required them to fulfill basic eligibility criteria in specific disciplines and other requirements that should be followed under the following program: Beijing Institute Scholarships in China

  • Bachelor’s Degree ( after 12 years of education)
  • One Tier Masters Degree (After 12 years of education)
  • Master’s Degree( after 16 years of education)
  • Ph.D. Degree (after 17/18 years of education)

Scholarship Coverage:

Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarships will cover the following provisions for the selected students:

Bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s and non-degree programs:

  • Tuition-free education – exemption from the payment of tuition fee
  • Monthly stipend – non-degree, bachelor’s, master’s and one-tier master’s level: monthly amount of HUF 43,700 (cca EUR 110) contribution to the living expenses in Hungary, for 12 months a year, until the completion of studies
  • Accommodation contribution – free dormitory place or a contribution of HUF 40,000/month to accommodation costs for the whole duration of the scholarship period (Please note that if the student does not live in the dormitory, the HUF 40,000/month is a contribution to that rental costs, and in bigger cities – especially in the capital city – this contribution would not cover the full amount of rental costs.)
  • Medical insurance – health care services according to the relevant Hungarian legislation (Act CXXII of 2019 on Entitlements to Social Security Benefits and Funding These Services) and supplementary medical insurance for up to HUF 65,000 (cca 160 EUR) a year/person

For Doctoral Degree Programs:

  • Tuition-free education – exemption from the payment of tuition fee
  • Monthly stipend – doctoral level: according to the current Hungarian legislation, the monthly amount of scholarship is HUF 140,000 (cca EUR 350 for the first phase of education (4 semesters) and HUF 180,000 (cca EUR 450) for the second phase (4 semesters) – for 12 months a year, until completion of studies.
  • Accommodation contribution – free dormitory place or a contribution of HUF 40,000/month to accommodation costs for the whole duration of the scholarship period (Please note that if the student does not live in the dormitory, then the HUF 40,000/month is a contribution to that rental costs, and in bigger cities – especially in the capital city – this contribution would not cover the full amount of rental costs.)
  • Medical insurance – health care services according to the relevant Hungarian legislation (Act CXXII of 2019 on Entitlements to Social Security Benefits and Funding These Services) and supplementary medical insurance for up to HUF 65,000 (cca 160 EUR) a year/person

Duration of the Programs:

Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarships duration for different study levels are as follows:

  • For Bachelor Programs: 2 to 4 years
  • For Masters Programs: 1.5 to 2 years
  • For Doctoral Programs: 4 Years
  • One Tier Master program: 5 to 6 years
  • Preparatory Course in Hungarian Language: 1 Year
  • Postgraduate Training courses: 1 to 2 years

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates need to meet the following criteria for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program 2025-2026:

  • Candidates can be from one of the Partner countries of the Hungary that are mentioned above
  • Candidates can browse 30 universities and colleges (more than 800 study programs), but only 2 choices are allowed. Make sure that your chosen programmes are relevant to the field of your studies
  • Candidates must have the required qualifications and field of study in which they are going to apply
  • Applicants for doctoral programs need to submit a statement of supervisor (if required by the proposed Doctoral School).
  • Available study fields differ from partner country to partner country. 
  • Candidates need to send their applications to the sending parties in their home countries and candidates can not apply directly for the scholarships.
  • The application has no additional costs; therefore, authorities highly suggest not to apply through any agencies

Deadline:

The last date for the submission of the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarships application forms is 15 January 2025.
