The University of Nottingham is looking for exceptional candidates belonging to different or diverse backgrounds. Candidates must discuss their research proposals with their host school or institution. Candidates must have been awarded Ph.D. admission to apply for the Nottingham Research Fellowship Program.

Study in Canada

Candidates with diverse geographical and career backgrounds can join under one roof and Fellows will be provided professional and dynamic research environment. Fellows will also be provided the opportunity to do part-time work if they can’t meet their personal expenses from the Fellowship’s stipend.

Fellowship Schemes:

Fellows are essential to our mission to deliver exceptional research that transforms lives in the UK and across the world. They are the research leaders of tomorrow, working with inspirational pioneers from across disciplines to find solutions to complex global problems. 

The University of Nottingham has two schemes, each offering the same package of support to both national and international candidates: 

Vanier Graduate Scholarship Program

  1. Anne McLaren fellowships are aimed at outstanding female postdoctoral researchers in science, technology, engineering, and medicine, who are at the early stage of their academic careers and wish to establish a research career in the UK 
  2. Nottingham Research fellowships are aimed at outstanding postdoctoral researchers who are at the early stage of their academic careers from all academic disciplines represented at the university 

Financial Advantages:

Nottingham Fellowship will provide the following benefits to the candidates:

  • Three-year research funding will be provided
  • £43,155 to £54,421 costs will be awarded that cover Salaries and related expenses
  • £75000 will be provided for the additional research expenses
  • Child care support will be provided at £15000.
  • access to mentoring, career development, and networking with the wider fellowship community

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must meet the following criteria for the eligibility of Nottingham Fellowship Program:

  • Candidates must have been awarded Ph.D. or equivalent such as postgraduate MD/DM for clinical applicants â€“ prior to the closing date for registering interest in the scheme.
  • Candidates who are in early career research are eligible
  • Candidates who have more than 8 years of post-doctorate experience are not eligible
  • Nottingham Research Fellowships are for the all-academic disciplines at the University of Nottingham.
  • Anne McLaren Fellowships are for the STEM disciplines only.
  • Candidates must have a growing reputation nationally and internationally.
  • Candidates must have an outstanding track record of research for their career stage and discipline, including high-quality publications, research funding, and/or prizes and awards
