Candidates from almost all over the world can apply for the Harmonized Scholarship Program at Dalhousie University. The Harmonized Scholarship Program will allow the candidates to use one application for multiple scholarships at once and enter into the competition for FGS-managed scholarships. Incoming and current students can apply for the Faculty Graduate Scholarship Program using only one application. The Best part of FGS is that if you are a new student you don’t need to be accepted into the Dalhousie Graduate program to apply for the scholarships but it is a must for candidates to apply for the program before you will be able to accept the scholarship offer.

Candidates who are interested to do Masters’s program can join Dalhousie, anyhow If you are a Dalhousie master’s student expecting to transfer or fast-track to a doctoral program in January or May of the current academic year, or in September or January of the next academic year, you are encouraged to apply for doctoral-level awards. Scholarships awarded through the Harmonized Scholarship Process are not transferrable between institutions.

Candidates are advised to prepare the application and all other supporting documents, incomplete or mishandled applications will be disqualified. African Nova Scotian Scholarships:

African Nova Scotian Scholarships are for the African Nova Scotians (who also self-identify as Indigenous Black, Africadian, Afri-Scotian, or Scotian) who are descendants of free and enslaved Black Loyalists, Black Refugees, Maroons, and other Black people who were settled across 52 indigenous (original) land-based Black communities are eligible to apply. Applicants must self-identify as African Nova Scotian and provide their consent for Dalhousie to use this information in determining eligibility.

Value: $15,000 per year for up to two years
Scholarship type: Entrance or in-program
Degree level: All master’s or doctoral
Available to: Canadian students identifying as African Nova Scotian
Renewable: Yes

Studying in Germany on Scholarship

Indigenous Graduate Scholarship:

Indigenous scholarships are for the indigenous candidates, defined for the purposes of this competition as someone who identifies as First Nations (Status, non-status, treaty), Métis, Inuit, Native, or North American Indian. The first preference for the award will be for members of the Mi’kmaq community. After self-identifying, Candidates must also provide their consent for Dalhousie to use this information for considering them for this award. 

Value: $15,000 per year for up to two years
Scholarship type: Entrance or in-program
Degree level: All master’s or doctoral
Available to: Canadian students self-identifying as Indigenous
Renewable: Yes

James Robinson Johnston Graduate Entrance Scholarships:

Candidates must be self-identifying African Canadian citizen or permanent resident who has been accepted into or applied for a master’s or doctoral program at Dalhousie University in Canada.

Value: $15,000 per year for up to two years (master’s) or $19,000 per year for up to three years (Ph.D.)
Scholarship type: Entrance

Available to: Self-identifying African-Canadian students

How to Apply:

Candidates need to apply for the Canadian Dalhousie University scholarship Program in the following steps:

  • If you are a new candidate kindly make log into the FGS Management System
  • If you already have NetId, select Use Dalhousie NetID to log in
  • Create a new scholarship application form or edit the previous one
  • Only one application will be accepted by each application
  • Master’s applicants who have applied for the Tri-Agency Canadian Graduate Student–Master’s (CGS-M) scholarship competition may choose to use their CGS-M application within the Harmonized Scholarship Process. 
  • Click Save and Next at the bottom of each Page
  • Upload transcripts at the scholarship application page
  • All the references will be submitted before the deadline at the portal
  • Agree to the terms and conditions and then save and finalize the application
  • Submit the application at FGS Management Portal
