The University of British Columbia has announced an amazing opportunity for Doctoral Studies. Candidates worldwide who want to study PhD, DMA, and MDPhD can apply for the UBC Fellowship Program for the academic year 2025. The University of British Columbia is offering a four-year Fellowship Program for international students. This program allows UBC to continue to attract and support outstanding domestic and international doctoral students and provide those students with stable, base-level funding for their doctoral studies and research.

Candidates can get $18,200 per annum under this fellowship program for four years.  In general, the fellowships are offered to students beginning their first year of full-time PhD, DMA, or MD-PhD studies, but may be offered to continuing students. Students holding the following Tri-Agency awards automatically become 4YF designates: Vanier Scholarships, Doctoral Canada Graduate Scholarships (CGSD), CIHR Doctoral Research Awards, NSERC Doctoral Postgraduate Scholarships (PGSD), and SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships. Doctoral students who obtain Tri-Agency scholarships may be eligible for 4YF tuition coverage and will receive 4YF stipend and tuition support once their external scholarship funding ends, until four years after the external award start date or until the end of their 5th year in Doctoral program, whichever comes first.

Financial Coverage:

The candidates will be offered the following financial coverage under the UBC 4Y Fellowship Program:

$18,200 stipend plus full tuition coverage

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates need to meet the following criteria for the University of British Columbia Fellowship Program:

  • International Students from all over the world and from Canada are eligible to apply
  • Graduate programs select 4YF recipients from among their eligible incoming and continuing students (4YF-G)
  • The fellowships are offered to students beginning their first year of full-time PhD, DMA, or MD-PhD studies
  • Eligible students who are awarded a Killam Doctoral Scholarship or a Li Tze Fong Fellowship through the annual Tri-Agency / Affiliated Fellowship competition automatically become 4YF recipients (4YF-U)
  • Applicants must have good academic records and maintain their scores to get the 4Y UBC Fellowship Award
  • Selection is based on academic excellence, upon the recommendation of the graduate program.
