How to Get an Equivalence Certificate From HEC

Candidates who have done BS or any other semester program/ MBBS/ CA/ACCA and many other programs that have duration 4 years or more need to get an equivalence certificate according to their 4-year program for example candidates who have done a BS program after intermediate is considered equivalent to 16 years of education or masters degree and the candidates who have done any 4-year program after graduation is equivalent to 18 years degree or MS/MPhil program. for example, for Candidates who have done 3.5 or 4 years of MBA Program, their degree is equivalent to an MS program or 18 years of education. In this regard, they need to get the equivalent certificate from Higher Education Commission. How to verify or attest degree from Higher Education Commission

Equivalency Process:

The equivalent process starts after the attestation of your graduation and master’s degree/ transcript if you are applying for an equivalence certificate of an MS degree. Go to the official website of the Higher Education Commission. Read complete instructions on how to get a verification certificate.

How to START A PROCESS:

Candidates must go to the profile that they made during the attestation process and then click on the top left they see a column of Equivalent certificates on clicking that they will get 3 options.

  • Local degree
  • Foreign degree
  • E-courses

Candidates can select accordingly. Most candidates wanted to get Local degree certificates of BS/ MBA etc programs so we will proceed according to that.

Personal details

Personal details include all the information that you put during the profile-making process, applicant’s name, address, marital status, CNIC number, nationality, home address, and phone number.

It is a very important step and HEC will only proceed if all degress from bachelors are attested by the Higher Education Commission.

Identification Questionaire:

Then HEC will ask some identification questions (about 5 questions) to verify your identity you have to simply click YES on all questions if you add the correct information.

Question Number 4:

In the questionnaire, there is the most important question that is number 4 which says

In case your Transcript/Marks Sheet is not issued by the Examination office of the university/Degree Awarding Institute (DAI) but rather it has been issued by any affiliated college/institute/department, then whether your transcript has been countersigned by the Controller of Examination of the awarding University/DAI?

The meaning of the above question is that if you did your degree from affiliated colleges of your main University then candidates first obtained their verification letter from their main University later they attest documents from HEC and then apply for equivalency. ( for example, candidates who have done BS from Fatima Jinnah College and wanted to get an equivalent certificate of Masters program then first have to get a verification letter from Main University that is Punjab University).

Equivalence Form:

After putting all the previous details now the main box comes that is the Equivalence form, this form will ask about details of the degree/s that you wanted to get equivalency. the candidates need to put all the answers according to their transcripts.

Semester System:

If candidates have done the Sysmester system then have to equally divide their total semesters so that they can put numbers separately on Summer and Winter semesters( if there are a total of 8 semesters then 4 for the winter/fall and 4 for the Summer semester)

Upload Documents:

  • In the next and final step upload documents that are mentioned on HEC Website. The uploading will contain from matriculations to your final degree
  • Upload all copies from the front and back of all documents
  • Make sure to upload only one document against each section (If one document has more than one page, please upload it in a single consolidated file).
  • Please upload the document only in pdf format.
  • Please ensure to upload all the previous documents in below “Other Documents Section” if your degree is Attested before May 28, 2017, from Higher Education Commission.
  • Please ensure to upload readable scanned copies of both the Front and Back Sides of a Degree & Transcript of the Document.

Verify Details:

After putting and uploading all documents then Portal will ask about the verification of details it will take about 20 to 30 days for verification of details after verification they will send you a document of equivalency through email.
