The Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarships (AGRTPS) (International) are specifically intended to support international students to undertake a Higher Degree by research at Flinders University. The AGRTPS includes an international tuition fee offset, a living stipend, and Overseas Health Care coverage. AGRTP is a Commonwealth-sponsored scholarship Program that supports students from all over the world who need financial assistance to study in Australia. Each year AGRTP announced scholarships at Flinders University for the students of Postgraduates or High-degree research. The main purpose of AGRTP is to promote research and development in various fields of life for the betterment of society.

A limited number (up to 6) of AGRTPS are available yearly. Due to the limited number of scholarships available, this scholarship is highly competitive. A small number of Higher Degree by Research (HDR) scholarships are awarded on academic merit and research potential for full-time study in Doctor of Philosophy or Masters by Research. Competition for scholarships is strong and recent awardees hold first class Honours degrees or equivalent. Candidates before applying must read the eligibility criteria and all the requirements for admission at the Flinders Univesity.

The AGRTPS is awarded to candidates who demonstrate outstanding aptitude for independent research. AGRTPS are considered based on academic merit, academic research training, and research indicators and performance. In 2024, the successful applicants received the maximum number of points (25) for their publications, i.e., applicants submitted 5 publications. The scholarship is tenable for up to three years for a Research Doctorate and up to two years for a Research master’s degree. Successful applicants are required to undertake full-time study and must be commencing a higher degree by research in Australia for the first time.
