SBW Berlin Scholarship Program

Do you want to study in Germany? International candidates are going to have great opportunities as SBW Berlin Scholarships have been announced for the academic year 2024. The SBW Berlin Scholarship for International Students supports talented young people from abroad who have already shown social commitment and who use the skills they have acquired during their studies during and after their studies in social projects at a non-profit/social organization in their home countries. SBW Scholarships are for Foreign nationals whose countries of origin appear to be in particular need of support in their development or candidates who have Holders of a student visa or residence permit to take up or pursue studies.

SBW Berlin awards scholarships based on professional qualifications, personal suitability, and
financial need to pursue a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at a university or a university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule) in Berlin or Potsdam. In principle, all scientific, social, and artistic disciplines can be funded. SBW Berlin is offering scholarships to those candidates who are from low-income countries or who don’t have any financial support from any means, such candidates will be most likely to be chosen for the Berlin Awards in Germany.

Apply for the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Program

SBW scholarship recipients work on social projects during their studies in Berlin. Ideally, these projects are part of the charitable work of organizations based in their home countries and/or contribute to improving living conditions there. After completing their studies, our scholarship recipients are expected to continue the projects in their home countries and to advance them through the skills they have acquired here. SBW Berlin continues to support them in an advisory capacity.

Who can apply:

Candidates need to meet the following conditions for the SBW Berlin Scholarship Program: You can also study in Qatar

  • Foreign nationals, whose home countries appear to have a particular need for development assistance

Scholarship Benefits:

  • cost-of-living allowance currently in the amount of 480 Euro per month

Duration of the SBW Berlin Scholarship:

The duration of the SBW Berlin scholarship is at least 30 days up to a maximum of 48 months. The respective standard period of study is decisive. Funding is granted on a periodic base, usually for the upcoming semester.

Application requirements:

Before applying for the SBW Berlin Scholarship Program following requirements should be met by the candidates:

  • Between 18 and 30 years old
  • Professional or volunteer experience in the non-profit/social sector (proven by a social
  • institution’s letter of recommendation)
  • Able to prove that they have not stayed in Germany for more than 18 months before the
  • application
  • Qualification for university entrance
  • Intention to work in their country of origin for at least 18 months after graduation or to engage in non-profit work until the repayment plan has been fulfilled
  • Able to prove a relatively low net income
  • Average grades corresponding to a German grade point average of at least 2.0.9
  • No first-degree family members who reside permanently in Germany
  • Application before the start of their university education or fully enrolled in the first, second, or max. third semester at a state-recognized university (in Germany or abroad) or application for a master’s degree shortly before or after obtaining a bachelor’s degree

Required Documents:

The application process for the SBW Berlin Scholarship consists of three phases:

The first phase of the application process for the SBW Berlin Scholarship Program is very competitive and critical, candidates’ application portfolios or documents will be reviewed by the selection panel if the portfolio is worthy then they will be given access to the online application form that is secured with a password. Password access will be given to only those candidates who will be successfully selected for the next phase.

During the second phase of the selection process, the application form, the applicant’s grades, and the financial situation is carefully reviewed.

During the third phase of the selection process, an interview or video conference is conducted with candidates who, after examining the documents, have been deemed suitable for the scholarship program.

  10. Applicants who have previously been granted the full benefits of this scholarship are not eligible to benefit from it again to acquire a new academic degree.
  11. The scholarship should be utilized starting from the semester in which the scholarship was awarded. For international students, the start of the study can be postponed for one semester, if necessary, conditional of approval of the scholarship committee. If the student does not pass his/her first semester, the scholarship will be canceled and the student will be informed by QU email.

Eligibility Criteria:
